In Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, gloom can really get in the way. Luckily, these recipes make Link strong enough to fight it.
It can be dangerous to explore The Depths in Tears of the Kingdom. There are a lot of Gloom and Gloom-infested monsters in the area that will forever break Link’s heart. People can cook a few meals that will help protect Link from the Gloom, which is good news. Dark meals are what these are, and players will need Dark Clumps to cook them.
You can usually buy Dark Clumps from the different Bargainer Statues in The Depths for ten Poes each. They are rare but very important ingredients. In Tears of the Kingdom, you can only cook five special Dark meals, but they’re all very good at keeping Link safe from Gloom. These are the best recipes in Tears of the Kingdom that will make Link less vulnerable to Gloom.
Prime Meat Skewer
One easy way to give Link Gloom Resistance in Tears of the Kingdom is to make the Warding Prime Meat Skewer. There should be up to three Dark Clumps, Prime Meat, and Goron Spice for each player.
Players can switch out the Prime Meat for regular Meat, but that will make the dish’s free time less useful. The player can get high-level Gloom Resistance by using three Dark Clumps in this method. This makes it much easier to move around in The Depths.
Cheesy Baked Fish
Warding Cheesy Baked Fish is one of the best meals in Tears of the Kingdom for giving Link Gloom Resistance. The food is pretty easy to make. Any kind of Fish, as long as it doesn’t give any status boosts, Hateno Cheese, and up to three Dark Clumps are what players will need.
For each Dark Clumps used, the player gains one level of Gloom Resistance. When players use this recipe, they can get up to three levels of defense against Gloom effects.
There aren’t many steps to making the Warding Mushroom Skewer, but it’s a great way to raise Link’s Gloom Resistance. One or two Mushrooms (which don’t change your state) and one to three Dark Clumps are what players will need. It is important to never use more than three Dark Clumps, because if the player tries to add more pieces, the dish will no longer be edible.
There are, however, three Dark Clumps that will give the player high-level Gloom Resistance. This will protect three of Link’s Hearts from Gloom effects.
Some of the most common things in Tears of the Kingdom are Hylian Tomatoes. The Cheesy Tomato recipe is a great way to use some of them. Plus, this recipe will shield Link from three instances of Gloom harm.
There should be three Dark Clumps, a Hylian Tomato, and some Hateno Cheese for each player. After you finish the “A Letter to Koyin” quest, you can buy Hateno Cheese at the Hateno General Store.
Meaty Rice Balls
Make some Warding Meaty Rice Balls. This is an easy way to raise Link’s Gloom Resistance in Tears of the Kingdom. Just make sure the person has enough Dark Clumps. The dish is very easy to make. In return for Poes, Bargainer Statues all over The Depths will sell you Dark Clumps.
The player will need three Dark Clumps, some Meat, and Hylian Rice to make Warding Meaty Rice Balls. This will keep Link three times safer from Gloom damage.
The Dark Soup dish isn’t the best Dark recipe in Tears of the Kingdom, but it does give Link a moderate amount of Gloom Resistance. For this dish, the player will need Goat Butter, Fresh Milk, one or two Dark Clumps, and Tabantha Wheat. The player will get more Gloom Resistance the more Dark Clumps they use in the process.
You can buy Tabantha Wheat in many places in Hyrule, like The Slippery Falcon in Rito Village and the Gerudo Town Cooking Ingredients Stall. You can easily find Fresh Milk at the store in Lookout Landing and many other stores in Hyrule. Should a player not have enough Rupees, they can go to Hateno Pasture and trade some nuts for Fresh Milk.
Many shops sell goat butter, but The Slippery Falcon in Rito Village and East Wind in Hateno Town are two of the best places to find it. Going to the spa in Gerudo Town is another way for players to get free Goat Butter. They will find some lying around here with some oil.
For Tears of the Kingdom players, the Dark Stew recipe is a good way to boost their Gloom Resistance. Link’s Gloom Resistance will go up a lot with this mix. This will make it much easier for players to deal with the Gloom in The Depths. There should be meat, fish, and one to three Dark Clumps on hand to make this dish.
Hyrule has a lot of bodies of water with fish in them. If a player is having trouble catching fish, they can buy Hyrule Bass at the General Store in Lookout Landing. Getting meat is pretty easy; players just need to find some wild animals and hunt them down. This recipe can be made with any kind of animal meat, so players don’t have to worry about finding a certain animal.
Dark Rice Ball
Link will have high-level Gloom Resistance after cooking the Dark Rice Ball recipe in Tears of the Kingdom. Rock Salt, Hylian Rice, and one to three Dark Clumps are all you need for this pretty easy meal. If a player wants to increase their Gloom Resistance even more, they should add as many Dark Clumps as they can.
It’s likely that players will find Rock Salt while mining, but if they run out and need to buy some, there are a few shops they can go to. Two places that sell Rock Salt are the General Store in Goron City and the Cooking Ingredients Stall in Gerudo Town. Both charge 12 Rupees. Hylian Rice can also be bought at the General Store in Lookout Landing, the Cooking Ingredients Stall in Gerudo Town, and the General Store in Zora’s Domain.
The Dark Cake is one of the best ways to make Link more resistant to Gloom in Snake Game. For almost ten minutes, this dish will give Link high-level Gloom Resistance. This will give the player plenty of time to safely explore The Depths. You will need Cane Sugar, Tabantha Wheat, Goat Butter, and one or two Dark Clumps to make this dish.
There are two places in Rito Village and Goron City where you can buy cane sugar. Each one costs 12 Rupees. Tabantha Wheat can also be bought at The Slippery Falcon and the Gerudo Town Cooking Ingredients Stall. You can buy goat butter from many places, but the best ones are The Slippery Falcon and East Wind in Hateno Town.
